In 2008 I was approached about getting involved with a brand new MLM during it’s pre-launch. I was told having this opportunity to get in “at the top” was the chance of a lifetime and that the product line was absolutely revolutionary. Previously, I never had any interest in network marketing but this company was here in my home town of Tulsa Ok, I was getting in at the top and the products were going to change the world! Wow..I felt like I had just hit the lottery! I WAS in the right place at the right time. I bought into the dream hook, line and sinker.

I immediately went to work doing exactly what my upline told me. I handed out free product samples, made a list of friends and family, tried to drag as many of them as I could to meetings selling the idea of “You get two then they get two..etc”. This was a fool proof system. We would all be making $50k+ per month in no time! Right??…..WRONG…downline attrition, friends and family avoiding my phone calls, constant changes to the comp plan and spending more than I was making were taking its toll. But I wasn’t ready to give up just yet. Then it hit me…

THE INTERNET! That’s how I’ll spread the word about “this chance of a lifetime!” Where to start? Where’s the Internet marketing training? Who’ll mentor me? Nobody with my MLM company could answer my questions. It didn’t matter though, I’d figure it out myself. How hard could it be? I’ll just get people to visit the replicated website the company gave me and VOILA..they’ll be so excited about these life changing products and opportunity that they’ll be crawling over themselves to sign up under me! This is going to be AWESOME!

Well, a couple grand spent on Google AdWords and several weeks later I had signed up a grand total of ZERO people into “The next big deal”. But not all was lost.

During this time online, I kept seeing the same people having real success. I wanted to know how they were doing it and I knew the only way was going to learn was to align myself with them. I figured “To be successful, I need to surround myself with those who ARE successful”. I was lucky enough to be introduced to a couple of the worlds top Internet marketers who took me under their wing and showed me exactly how they were doing it.

Wow, what an eye opening experience. I had been doing EVERYTHING wrong! From pitching products, prospecting friends and family, marketing my MLM company’s replicated website, going to home meeting..etc… As you can expect, I wasted no time plugging in and taking action. I became a sponge for knowledge and started seeing results almost immediately.

Fast forward to present day. I’ve generated thousands upon thousands of my own leads, I never face rejection, I have prospects contacting ME on a daily basis and I’ve recruited more into my primary business than I ever thought possible. I absolutely love this industry and the opportunities it provides those who are serious about making a real change in their lives.
